Office Assistants perform office support and clerical work to meet the requirements of agency programs. Such work may consist of, but is not limited to:
data entry; math or calculations; mail, supply, and inventory-related tasks; keyboarding and other document preparation tasks; answering telephones; completing forms; assisting customers; creating or assisting in the preparation of reports, charts, graphs, and tables; and other related activities. This work is accomplished in accordance with applicable procedures, rules, regulations, and laws. Non-supervisory positions perform complicated clerical and office support activities that require substantive knowledge of the program and/or of the program's governing laws, rules, or regulations. Such laws, rules, or regulations may be subject to frequent change. Incumbents typically handle sensitive applications, requests, or inquiries in which management or executive staff may be contacted or interested. They process applications or requests that do not meet normal parameters and may require additional research and consultation with higher level staff. They also perform activities that may require coordination with internal or external parties.

Salary Range:
From $40193 to $49405 Annually

Qualifications:
Must be in title or on the Civil Service eligible list for this location or be eligible for transfer under section 70.1 in a designated title determined by the New York State Department of Civil Service. PROVISIONAL
Qualifications:
Must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had on year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher. Qualifying titles are available at:

Developmental Disabilities Secure Care Treatment Aide 1, Direct Support Assistant, Food Service Worker 2, Licensed Practical Nurse, Mental Health Therapy Aide, Security Services Assistant, and Youth Support Assistant.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
